EDC Grant categories
ISB offers support to help increase participation and capacity-building for biomechanics researchers and students from Economically Developing Countries (EDCs). ISB 2027 will offer the EDC grant opportunities listed below.
Important note: Applicants may apply for one EDC grant only.
EDC Student Travel Grant
The EDC Student Travel Grant is offered by the ISB to enable students from economically developing countries (EDC) to attend ISB 2027 in Sydney, Australia. It will entail at least five travel grants, each with monetary support of up to AUD $2,500 to help cover the costs of attending ISB 2027.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the EDC Student Travel Grant, a candidate must be enrolled as a graduate student at an institution that is located in an EDC, have submitted an abstract for ISB 2027 via the abstract submission system, and complete the application by sending additional documents. From the submitted abstracts, a committee of ISB council members will select contributions to be awarded. If you aim to apply for the EDC Student Travel Grant, there will be a box in the abstract submission that you must tick to indicate that you have applied for the grant.
How to apply
Applications will open on December 7th (UTC); the deadline is February 12th (UTC).
To complete the submission, submit your additional documents using this form according to the stated deadline.
Post-congress requirement
Following the congress, the EDC Student Travel Grant winners are expected to write a report for the ISB newsletter about their experience attending ISB 2027.

Developing Countries Grant Competition (DCGC)
The Developing Countries Grant Competition (DCGC) is designed to award research projects from EDC biomechanics groups with the purpose to incentive innovative and collaborative activities to develop biomechanics in EDC regions. It will entail a certificate and five monetary awards of AUD $2,500 each for scientific purposes. The award winners are expected to give a presentation of their project at the ISB-congress of the same year.
Eligibility
Any biomechanics researcher from an EDC is eligible to apply. The principal applicant must be a current financial member of ISB, and applications can include non-EDC team members. The proposal must be developed in an EDC.
How to apply
Applications will open on 7 December (UTC); the deadline is 12 February (UTC).
Write your proposal using the DCGC template.
To complete the submission, submit your proposal and the additional documents using this form according to the stated deadline.
From the submitted proposals, a committee of ISB council members will select five contributions to award.
Post-award requirement
After the congress, DCGC winners are expected to write a report for the ISB newsletter about their project and how the DCGC supported it and fostered biomechanics in their EDC. The award should be acknowledged in case of publication supported by the DCGC.

Other Grant categories
The International Travel Grant program (ITG)
ISB offers the International Travel Grant program to help student members travel abroad to experience science in other countries and cultures and build international collaborations. ISB offers International Travel Grants of up to USD $3500 for travel related to biomechanics research. A relevant and feasible project must be defined, with appropriate research activities to be performed by the applicant at the host institution during the visit (typically 4-6 weeks), agreed upon by the applicant’s supervisor and the host institution. The visit can be combined with the congress attendance.
Eligibility
ISB will accept applications only from applicants and their supervisors who are financial members (please provide the ISB membership number in your application. You can obtain it from the ISB Member Database or from ISB Treasurer Dr. Andrew Cresswell). First-time applicants are preferred, but others can be considered if the funds allow. Applicants will generally only be considered for one ISB grant in any one application round. The evaluation committee may limit the number of applications per institution.

The International Affiliate Development Grant program (IADG)
ISB offers the International Affiliate Development Grant to help student biomechanists from low-income or restricted currency countries spend time in an approved, established biomechanics laboratory or attend a relevant, approved training course. Therefore, the visit can be combined with the congress attendance. ISB offers International Affiliate Development Grants of up to USD $3500.
Eligibility

You can obtain it from the ISB Member Database or from ISB Treasurer Dr. Andrew Cresswell). First-time applicants are preferred, but others can be considered if the funds allow. Applicants will generally only be considered for one ISB grant in any one application round. The evaluation committee may limit the number of applications per institution.

The Technical Group Meeting Travel Grant program (TGTG)
ISB offers the Technical Group Meeting Travel Grant to student members of ISB who attend affiliated Technical Group meetings. It will be offered to help reduce travel expenses to attend meetings of the 3-D Analysis of Human Movement (3DAHM), Technical Group on Computer Simulation (TGCS), Footwear Biomechanics Group (FBG), International Shoulder Group (ISG), Hand and Wrist Biomechanics International Group (HWBI), Motor Control Group (MCG), and Comparative Neuromuscular Biomechanics Group (CNB). Some of these ISB Technical Groups will be meeting in the days before ISB 2027. ISB will offer grants of up to USD $500 to the students who will be presenting their research results at the aforementioned Technical Group meetings.

The Congress Travel Grant program (CTG)
ISB offers the Congress Travel Grant only in years when an ISB Congress is held. In the next round of applications, it will be offered to help reduce travel expenses to attend the XXXI ISB Congress in 2027. To help students attending the congress, ISB will offer several travel grants from USD 600 up to USD 1200, according to the distance from the Congress city.
Eligibility
ISB will accept applications only from applicants and their supervisors who are financial members (please provide the ISB membership number in your application. You can obtain it from the ISB Member Database or from ISB Treasurer Dr. Andrew Cresswell). First-time applicants are preferred, but others can be considered if the funds allow. Applicants will generally only be considered for one ISB grant in any one application round. The evaluation committee may limit the number of applications per institution. The student must be the first author of the abstract and present the abstract at the congress.

The Postdoctoral Fellow Congress Travel Grant program (PD_CTG)
ISB offers the Postdoctoral Fellow Congress Travel Grant only in years when an ISB Congress is held. In the next round of applications, it will be offered to help reduce travel expenses to attend the XXXI ISB Congress in 2027. To support postdocs attending the congress, ISB will offer several USD 500 grants to individuals with a postdoctoral fellow title or a similar trainee designation.
Eligibility
ISB will accept applications only from postdoctoral fellow applicants and their supervisors who are financial members (please provide the ISB membership number in your application. You can obtain it from the ISB Member Database or from ISB Treasurer Dr. Andrew Cresswell). First-time applicants are preferred, but others can be considered if the funds allow. Applicants will generally only be considered for one ISB grant in any one application round. The evaluation committee may limit the number of applications per institution. The postdoc must be the first author of the abstract and present the abstract at the congress.
